My name is dr. H. Jorn Bovenschen, dermatologist with more than 2 decades of experience in dermatology practice. I completed the training as a doctor (1996-2003), the doctoral program (2003-2007) and the training as a dermatologist (2005-2010) at Radboud University Nijmegen. Since then I have been working as an all-round dermatologist at the Máxima Medical Center in Eindhoven and Veldhoven. I also worked for a short time in Waalre and Tilburg at smaller-scale clinics. In 2026 I started the BovenSkin Dermatology concept that builds a bridge between (inter-)national patient care, writing medical scientific articles, providing presentations and advising companies. The basis of my work remains direct patient care. I also get a lot of satisfaction from doing research and guiding and training young doctors. In the last decade, remote dermatological care has been on the rise. Something I strongly believe in because it fits within today's 24/7 society. I myself am therefore active within various teledermatology platforms and digital healthcare applications. Through apps and online consultations, I contribute to the further development of remote dermatology, accessible, safe and high-quality.
Although I treat all skin diseases, my focus is on inflammatory skin diseases such as psoriasis and eczema. On this subject, I received my doctorate in 2007 on research into the immunological mechanisms behind the skin disease psoriasis and related inflammatory skin diseases. That scientific background still helps me make targeted, substantiated treatment choices within patient care on a daily basis. Two other pillars that run as a common thread through my career are science (medical scientific articles and lectures) and consulting for companies regarding innovations within dermatology.
Patient care and teledermatology
Within clinical patient care, I have built up extensive experience in assessing and treating a wide range of skin complaints. I am active both within hospital care (MMC) and on teledermatology platforms.
The development of online dermatology is fast. That is why I have expanded my expertise to a digital environment through BovenSkin Dermatology in collaboration with 247dermatologist. Because of my passion for Spain and knowledge of the healthcare landscape there, Dutch and Belgian patients in Spain can now quickly and efficiently access dermatological care, without compromising on quality and safety.
Scientific publications and presentations
In the field of scientific education, I am active as an author and content expert. I write medical scientific articles on a commissioned basis for media & publication partners, companies and start-ups and thus contribute to the dissemination of current medical knowledge.
With my experience within both clinical practice and the scientific world, I know how to translate complex information into clear and usable content for professionals.
In addition, he is involved in further training and knowledge transfer to healthcare professionals. The focus is on sharing current insights into the latest treatments and strengthening the quality of care within dermatology.
Medical Strategic Advisor
In addition to my clinical and scientific work, I am active as a medical-strategic advisor. Medical companies and start-ups need strategic decision-making based on medical content expertise.
My role includes assessing medical concepts, advising on product development, positioning and interpreting data regarding the latest dermatological treatments and medicines, and supporting organizations in translating scientific insights into practical applications. Due to my broad background, I can think along on both a substantive and strategic level.
This combination of clinical experience, scientific knowledge and strategic insight can be very valuable for both new and already established medical companies.
