Your Dermatologist
I am dr. H. Jorn Bovenschen, Dutch BIG-registered dermatologist with more than 20 years of experience in the medical practice. I studied medicine at Radboud University Nijmegen (1996–2003) and I also did my PhD there (2003-2007) and my training as a dermatologist (2005–2010). Since then I have been working as an all-round dermatologist at the Máxima Medical Center in Eindhoven and Veldhoven. In addition, I gained experience at smaller-scale clinics in Waalre and Tilburg.
Although I treat all common diseases on the skin, hair and nails, my particular interest lies in inflammatory skin conditions, such as psoriasis and eczema. My scientific research into the immunological mechanisms behind psoriasis and related inflammatory skin diseases formed the basis for my doctorate in 2007. This background helps me every day to make treatment choices carefully and scientifically based.
Good dermatological care does not stop at the consulting room. I get a lot of satisfaction from scientific research, writing (>70) medical-scientific publications, training young doctors and giving presentations at conferences and symposia. In addition, I advise (life-science) companies and medical start-ups.
I strongly believe in teledermatology: expert remote dermatological care, fitting with a society in which accessibility and flexibility are becoming increasingly important. Through digital care applications and teledermatology platforms (247dermatologist, Derm2check, Doctors365, Ksyos) I actively contribute to the further development of this form of care.
Since 2020 I have been staying in Spain for 3 months a year. During that time, I built up a network and got to know the care needs of the Dutch and Belgians in the region. For many Dutch people and Belgians who live here or stay for a longer period of time, language barriers, waiting times and finding a suitable specialist can make access to good dermatological care difficult. It is precisely there that online dermatological care can offer a solution in one's own language. This resulted in the establishment of the SpanjePoli.
In 2026, all pillars came together in the establishment of BovenSkin Dermatology.

Patient Care and Teledermatology
Within clinical patient care, I have built up extensive experience in assessing and treating a wide range of skin complaints. I have been working both in the hospital (MMC) and on teledermatology platforms since 2010.
Since 2012, I have expanded my expertise to this digital environment. In this way, patients can quickly and efficiently access dermatological care.

Scientific Education
In the field of scientific education, I am active as an author, editor and reviewer. I write medical scientific articles out of my own interest and on a commissioned basis for media & publication partners and companies and thus contribute to the dissemination of current medical knowledge.
In addition, I am involved in further training and knowledge transfer to healthcare professionals. The focus is on sharing up-to-date insights into the latest treatments in dermatology.

Medical Advisor
In addition to my clinical and scientific work, I am active as a medical-strategic advisor . Medical companies and start-ups require strategic decision-making based on medical expertise.
My role includes, among other things, assessing medical concepts, advising on product development , the positioning and interpretation of data regarding the latest dermatological treatments and medicines, and supporting organizations in translating scientific insights into practical applications.
Thanks to my broad background, I can contribute at both a substantive and strategic level, which can be valuable for both new and established medical companies.
